Shreveport’s Crown of Roses

Shreveport ROSE WATER TOWER
Shreveport has given the American Rose Center a gift that is both large in scale and lasting in impact.
The city’s giant new water tower rises above the treetops west of Shreveport along Interstate 20, between mile markers 5 and 8.
Visible for miles, it stands near Exit 5, the turn toward the Gardens of the American Rose Center on Jefferson Paige Road.
The tower’s restoration theme, “Crown of Roses,” was designed by artist Margaret Smith. Giant images of roses encircle the tower, while its green supports symbolize the canes of a rose bush. It also carries two welcoming messages: approaching from the west toward town, travelers see “It’s Good to Be Home”; heading east away from town, they see “Feel the Love.”
For the Gardens, the tower serves as a billboard, an invitation, and, we hope, a magnet that draws visitors into the Gardens.
So, if you are traveling on I-20 west of Shreveport, remember that America’s Rose Garden is nearby and ready to welcome you.

The Gardens of The American Rose Center is a botanic garden featuring America’s national floral emblem, the Rose. The expansive Gardens feature architecturally significant, circular beds of modern and heirloom roses. The Gardens provide wide walkways for pleasurable strolls and peaceful walks and jogs under the tall, cathedral-like pine trees that surround the gardens. Visitors will find year-round interest in the setting, with azaleas, magnolias and other trees and shrubs, an herb garden, other themed gardens, a large reflecting infinity pool, art in the garden, and modern buildings and facilities including a gift shop. The Gardens are the “Home of “Christmas in Roseland” which has delighted and excited visitors every year for over forty years!
