ABOUT THE GARDENS

Home of the Rose, AMERICA’S NATIONAL FLORAL EMBLEM, as decreed by President Ronald Reagan forty years ago on November 20, 1986!

The Gardens were carved out of our 118 acres of magnificent pine forestland in Shreveport, Louisiana, easily reached at Exit 5 on Interstate 20 between the city of Shreveport and the Texas border.

The Gardens were open to the public in 1975. Today, “America’s Rose Garden” features a variety of roses across numerous gardens, with a multitude of companion plants, trees, shrubs, sculptures and fountains.

We were proud to celebrate the Gardens’ 50th Anniversary in 2025, when the property came under the stewardship of a new, locally operated non-profit organization, the American Rose Center. Affectionally known as “America’s Rose Garden”, it is a jewel in the crown of Shreveport and the surrounding region, and for the state of Louisiana. We are striving to increase awareness of the Gardens by offering a serene and tranquil garden for a quiet stroll or retreat, as well as exciting and educational events of interest to the community.

Plan a visit soon – we look forward to seeing you.

ARC Red, White & Blooms event 2026

Bring your folding chair and wear your favorite historic character costume: patriot, pilgrim, soldier, cowboy…Americana!

You will find a visit to the Gardens to be a peaceful, serene and cathedral-like setting created by the towering pines surrounding the garden areas. There is a lot to see throughout the Garden Season (see dates above). The garden does specialize in roses; the roses and rose gardens are at their best from Mid-April to Late-May and from Mid-September to Late-October — with weather always being a factor.
